CHIROPRACTIC ADJUSTIVE TECHNIQUES
The nervous system controls and coordinates every aspect of the human body down to the cellular level. Between each segment of the spine, a pair of nerves exists. If a subluxation (misalignment) occurs in a spinal segment, that spinal nerve is irritated and/or put under pressure. At this point, the nerve is compromised which can lead to pain, fatigue, imbalance, and lowered resistance to disease, thereby paving the way to ill health. Chiropractors adjust the spine (and other joints of the body) to remove the subluxations/misalignments that cause nerve irritation, thereby re-establishing balance to the nervous system.
At Fruitport Chiropractic we understand that not all patients may be comfortable with manual chiropractic adjustments. Therefore, in addition to manual adjustments, we offer various gentle, low-force techniques to realign the spinal vertebrae. One such technique involves using a small hand-held, spring-loaded instrument called an "activator" which produces a direct, low force to the areas of the spine that need to be adjusted. We also utilize the VAll technique that uses a hand-held electrical instrument that also produces a direct low-force.
Whether a manual adjustment or low-force adjustive technique is used, the procedure is painless as a rule.

THE VP-1 VARIABLE PERCUSSOR
The fascia and bones of the body have electrical properties that let them carry electrical current. Fascia covers every muscle, organ, and system in the body. Fascial connective tissue is continuous and all-inclusive. Fascia carries an electrical charge and is in constant communication with the nervous system throughout the entire body.
The VP-1 Variable Percussor allows the practitioner to work with the fascia of the body at a very deep, penetrating level. It creates a strong, smooth force to stimulate the release of the fascia through biomechanical and bioelectrical unwinding. This kind of release allows the fluids and electrical properties of tissues and organs to flow normally again, thereby creating motion and life and restoring healthy equilibrium.
With proper knowledge and application, percussion techniques can be used in the correction of deep and superficial fascial release, trigger point therapy, spinal correction, cranial correction, visceral manipulation, and adhesion and scar tissue release.
Pain throughout the body - from the jaw (e.g. TMJ) to the extremities (e.g. arms and legs) to the feet (e.g. plantar fascitis) - can benefit from percussion techniques.
ERCHONIA COLD LIGHT LASER
When the body has an injury, the cells are damaged and fail to function within normal parameters. Low-level lasers penetrate deeply into the skin and work by restoring this abnormal cellular function. Physiologic effects include improved metabolism, circulation, and tissue healing.
The Erchonia Cold Light Laser emits a visible, coherent light that is applied to the affected area. Bundles of light energy pass through the dermal layers and are received within the cell membrane by specific energy photo acceptors. The increase in intra-cellular energy results in altered cell membrane permeability. Physiological changes also occur through an enzyme cascade to affect several biological processes. Within the injured musculoskeletal tissue, the low-level laser light initiates increased micro-circulation and enhanced tissue regeneration. The overall effects of an Erchonia Cold Light Laser treatment are decreased pain and inflammation and increased range of motion.

CHROMATHERAPY
Chromatherapy is the use of color in assisting the body to balance itself. Color serves to support our vital life force by supplying light energy to the system.
Color therapy eyewear is used as a means of directing color energy into the body. The eyes convert the light (color) into electricity that travels through the nervous system which, in turn, directs all body functions. When color enters the eyes, each frequency is directed to the area of the body that recognizes that particular frequency.
